Charles Krug Merlot Napa Valley 2019 - Our 2019 Napa Valley Merlot has expressive aromas of cranberry. pomegranate. and cherry. followed by lovely hints of tobacco and toffee. This medium-bodied wine delights with rich cherry and blueberry flavors accented with hints of walnut and toasty oak across the long supple finish.

The 2019 vintage enjoyed a long and even growing season; with cool nights and warm. dry weather deep into November. the grapes received a long hang time for ripening. We had some later rain in March and April. so more soil moisture in the ground. larger clusters. was also a relatively larger crop than recent vintages. Wines are balanced with good weight and texture. Our Bordeaux harvest did not even begin until mid-October and continued unhurried into mid-November. The growing season was graced by a very even bloom. short veraison. which is good. and no extreme heat weather/spikes.
